What to Bring & Wear

Participants should come in play clothes with comfortable shoes. They should dress appropriate for the weather (we spend a lot of time outdoors).

Participants should bring plenty of fluids, including a water bottle, a morning snack, a lunch, and an afternoon snack (refrigerators and microwaves are available). A backpack is a great idea for change of clothes, taking projects home, and storing personal items. Participants may bring handheld game systems. We use them as reinforcement and social capital. We are not responsible for lost items.

Outings

Every Wednesday, participants of The Asperger's Summer Program go on outings. These outings are to teach the participants how to function in the community, and to have some recreational experiences with their peers. Here is our outing schedule, along with some important instructions to make our outings safe and fun.

Outing Instructions

On days that we will be swimming, have your child come to The Program already wearing his/her swimsuit.
Please have your child come to the outings with sunblock already applied.
We will provide coolers for packed lunches.
Kids can bring spending money and/or recreational items. We are not responsible for lost or broken items.

Your child must be at the site and ready to go by 9am.
You are welcome to drop your child off at the outing locations at 9:40.
Outings are subject to change.

Transportation

Most families drop-off and pick-up at the program site. However, if transportation is a concern for you, other options are available. Some families even elect to pick-up and drop-off at outing locations on Wednesdays. We encourage this, especially if the outing location is closer to you then the Program Site. After enrollment, discuss this option with us.

Many families elect to carpool. You can email us at summerprogram2011@gmail.com by June 15th if you want to be put on a carpooling list. We will send out the list with each family’s general geographic location to everyone who wants to participate. It will be up to you to contact other parents for carpooling.

We have a partnership with Let it Ride Transport for those with transportation needs. 414-350-3088. You can contact them directly to arrange pick-up from your home.

Otherwise, we have 2 pick-up locations at 2 park & rides-

For those travelling from Racine and Kenosha areas:

Pick up is at 8:30 am at the Hwy 20/I94 park & ride

For those travelling from Ozaukee and Washington areas:

Pick up at 8:30 am at the Hwy 167/Hwy 45 park & ride

*There is a $23 fee for each one-way trip to and from the program
